As the new PS3 250GB is based on the PS3 Slim, the hardware spec of the new model is virtualy identical apart from the storage. The new model boasts more than twice the storage capacity of the PS3 Slim, 250GB vs 120GB.

  • Processor: More powerful IBM/Sony cell processor
  • Audio: Enhanced audio support. Now has BluRay HD audio codecs
  • Bravia Sync: Integrates the PS3 with Sony Bravia TV's. Access the XMB with the TV remote and put the PS3 into standby along with the TV
  • Can be mounted vertically using an optional PS3 slim vertical stand
  • Not compatible with PS2 games
  • No Linux support as with the previous PS3
  • Along with the release of the PS3 slim, the brand name is changing from PLAYSTATION 3 to PlayStation 3
