InFamous Review & InFamous PS3 BundlesIntroductionInFamous PS3 is a new action/adventure game that was released on the 29th of May 2009 for PS3 only. Your character Cole has many electrical superpowers that allow him to zap his enemies in a number of different ways. InFamous boasts a massive enviroment that isn't just limited to the ground, your character is able to scale tall buildings and run across roof-tops, ensuring you many hours of gameplay. But the question is will you use Cole's abilities for the good or evil?
InFamous storylineThe story is about a man named Cole, just an average guy that delivers parcels in Empire City. His boss is always dishing out abuse, but then one day he's asked to deliver a parcel, which unbeknown to him, contains a bomb that destroys Empire City. When Cole wakes up, he finds he has superpowers that allows him to take electricity from the city's power grid and use it in destructive or healing ways. Cole finds that he's been framed for for the blast that wiped out the city and has the choice of whether to be good or evil. Once you make that choice, Cole can then start his hunt for revenge against the people who framed him for the explosion, slaying the cops and reapers that are trying to run him down and taking advantage of the civilians who are no match for Cole's unstoppable powers. Gameplay | Weapons/Powers | FeaturesGameplayThe InFamous PS3 gameplay is similar to that of Grand Theft Auto 4 in the way that you it is a linear mission based format. You must find and locate your next mission and complete that mission before you continue on with the story. The map is huge, covering 3 different islands, that are each in a different state of destruction. You unlock these islands as you progress through the game, eventually having free range access to all 3 islands.
Weapons/PowersIn InFamous PS3, unlike most games of this genre you dont actually use physical weapons, but rather Cole has a selection of superpowers that he can use. Cole has the ability to collect and use electricity as a weapon against his enemies. He can use the electricity in many different ways. Early on in the game you will have just three powers (The first three listed below). As the game progresses you will pick up more powers from the list below...
FeaturesOne of the main features of this game is that you can choose whether to be good or bad. This choice is important as it affects the whole game and the way you play it, much like the Fable series of games. Not only does it affect the storyline, but by making good or bad decisions, it affects what moves you unlock when you progress through the game. Much like Fable, it also makes a difference to how your character looks in the game. If you decide to take the good guy route Cole's lightning bolts will be blue on the other hand if you take the path of evil, Cole will fire off red lightning bolts. To detect how good or bad Cole is, there is a karma meter and the actions you take around Empire city will move the karma meter accordingly. It's not all plain sailing for Cole and his electrical super powers, the frequent power cuts in the devasted city prevent Cole from topping up his power. During these power cuts Cole must find other ways to top up his energy, such as car batteries. An interesting part of the game is the ability to use electrical conductors to your advantage. For instance, Cole can strike opponents through metal objects that they are hiding behind, such as cars. If enemies are stood in water, Cole can zap them by channeling his electricity into the water.
